Is MyPillow any good?

MyPillow spends about $1.4 million each week on advertising so it’s very likely you’ve seen their infomercials on TV.[1] The million dollar question is: does it work? According to the infomercials, MyPillow is the best pillow you will ever own. That’s a very bold claim and here is what you need to know before you rush to order:

1. MyPillow does not cure, prevent or treat any disease

MyPillow is not a medical device so it does not help with cerebral palsy, PTSD, acid reflux, snoring, fibromyalgia, migraines, insomnia, sleep apnea, restless leg syndrome or any other medical conditions. Any claim to the contrary must be substantiated by clinical studies, not user experience or testimonials. Last November, MyPillow had to pay $995,000 in civil penalties and $100,000 to homeless and domestic violence shelters in California for insinuating that it could help with some of the aforementioned medical conditions. [1]

2. MyPillow is not for everyone

The popularity and success of MyPillow is a clear indication that it has worked wonders for thousands of people. Since 2004, more than 25 million MyPillows have been sold.[2] If you do a quick search online, you will find thousands of positive reviews from customers praising the pillow.

Unlike other generic pillows, MyPillow’s patented 3-piece interlocking fill allows you to adjust it to your comfort level. The foam pieces interlock and hold that position without going flat or at least that’s how it’s supposed to work. However, user experience varies greatly. Not everyone is impressed with the results or the new technology. Many people claim that Mypillow does not hold its shape as advertised.

Consumer Report conducted their own study and polled 18 people from their staff who have purchased a MyPillow. Most said they bought it to help alleviate a sleep problem such as insomnia, neck pain, or snoring. Half of the 18 staffers said it helped a lot, 17 percent said it helped a little, and 33 percent said it didn’t help at all. Only one-third of the group said they would buy My Pillow again.[3]

3. MyPillow does not cover return costs

The good news is if you decide to buy a MyPillow and are not satisfied. You can return it within 60 days for a 100% refund of your purchase price. However, you will have to pay for your own shipping cost. All refund requests will be processed within 30 days from the time MyPillow receive your returned product.

4. MyPillow comes with a 10-year warranty

If your MyPillow go flat during the 10-year warranty period, regardless of how many times the pillow is washed & dried, MyPillow will replace the defective MyPillow with a pillow of equal or greater value. MyPillow will also cover all shipping charges.[4]
